Get Testnet Tokens

Testnet LCAI tokens are required to pay for gas fees when deploying contracts and sending transactions on the Lightchain AI Testnet. The faucet distributes free tokens for development purposes.

[!NOTE] Testnet tokens have zero monetary value and cannot be transferred to mainnet.
They exist solely for development and testing.

1. Claim via the Web Faucet

The quickest way to get testnet LCAI:

Visit the faucet at https://faucet.lightchain.ai.
Connect your wallet or paste your wallet address.
Complete the CAPTCHA verification.
Click "Request Tokens".
Receive 0.5 LCAI in your wallet within a few seconds.

The faucet is limited to one request per address every 24 hours. If you need more tokens for extensive testing, see the alternatives below.

2. Claim via the Discord Bot

You can also request tokens through the Lightchain AI Discord:

Join the Lightchain AI Discord.
Navigate to the #testnet-faucet channel.
Type the following command:

The bot will send 0.5 LCAI to your address.

The Discord faucet has a separate 24-hour cooldown from the web faucet.

3. Claim via cURL (API)

For CI/CD pipelines or automated testing workflows, use the faucet API directly:

4. Request Bulk Testnet Tokens

If you're building a dApp that requires significant testnet liquidity (e.g., stress testing, liquidity pool simulations, or multi-user scenarios), you can request a bulk allocation:

Open a ticket in the #dev-support channel on Discord.
Include your wallet address, project name, and a brief description of your use case.
The team can allocate up to 100 LCAI for qualified projects.

5. Verify Your Balance

After claiming tokens, verify your balance:

Switch to the Lightchain AI Testnet network in MetaMask or Trust Wallet. Your LCAI balance should update within a few seconds.

Search your address on the Lightchain AI Testnet Explorer to view your balance and transaction history.

Troubleshooting

Issue	Solution
"Address already claimed"	Wait 24 hours before requesting again, or use the Discord faucet.
Tokens not appearing	Ensure your wallet is connected to Chain ID CodeHTML . Check the explorer.
Faucet is down	The faucet may be temporarily offline. Try again later or request via Discord.
Need more than 0.5 LCAI	Request a bulk allocation through the #dev-support Discord channel.
